Let me share a little sisterly pride here. My brother's company,CD Baby is the largest internet retailer of independent music. His site has some awesome search functions to help you get through the 175,600+ artists represented.
If you want a little further help, PB & Ellie's has developed our own sales program to sell the CD's that we feature in the cafe. Each one is carefully selected (by me) for "PB & Ellie's Cafe Listenability". That means my kids and I love them for dancing and singing but they're not offensive as background music either. I especially try and focus on some Portland area favorites! Our CD Baby click through program is still being developed but here's a start! I hope you find something you like! DEEP ROOTS
Very Very cool Oregon program. This fantastic non-profit led by Chris Gragg goes into the classroom and works with high school students. They write the songs, local musicians put it to music and the result is (maybe surprisingly!) GOOD! I LOVE this idea, and I hope you support them.
